Pope St. John Paul II, born Karol Wojtyła, was one of the most influential popes in modern history. His pontificate was marked by his role in the fall of communism, his emphasis on Divine Mercy, his extensive travels, and his profound impact on youth through World Youth Day. He survived an assassination attempt and showed remarkable forgiveness to his would-be assassin. His teachings on human dignity, marriage, and the theology of the body continue to influence the Church.
